It's a funny thing letting go. People always assume it's within your control, and it's your fault if you don't want to move on. Cause you want to believe that he's not really gone.

It's amazing how quickly we forget, how our pain protects us from years of regret. The private jokes just slip away to non-sensical words and we lock ourselves away, compiling lessons that we've learned.

Maybe I was the one who pushed you away. Maybe I was the one who couldn't stay that way. Maybe I was the one who couldn't let things go. Maybe I was the one who made you my ghost.

There's bitterness and then there's truth and yet we walk in and out as though there's nothing left to lose. And there's a mirror cracked before you, where love crashed with sense and the champagne bottles are empty, as if that might help it end.

It's strange starting over again. As if you thought that meeting him was the beginning of the end. And it's your fault if you don't want to move on. And it's your fault that another one is gone. And it's your fault that you couldn't just be strong. And it's your fault, and it's your fault and it's your fault.

Cause maybe I was the one to shoulder all the blame. Maybe I was the one who never was the same. Maybe I was the one who gave up on us and changed.
